Ever thought of studying Spanish?
It is the second most spoken language in the world, with almost 500 million speakers - why not become one of them?
Year 1: ENGL 2008 and ENGL 2009
The first semester is all about getting to know the basics. We cover topics like greetings, family, physical descriptions and food. But the most important is that you will understand "how the language works". We do this through lots of assignments like presentations, posters, videos (and some studying too). You will see that Spanish is quite a logical language and by the end of the year you will be chatting away about yourself in Spanish!

Year 2: ENGL 3016 and ENGL 3017
During the second year you will concentrate on your oral skills. You will already have a lot of vocabulary and this course will give you an opportunity to carry on acquiring it but also to use it. You might need to be the Master of Ceremonies for Spanish events, help in one of the Spanish speaking Consulates or even cook!

Practising your Spanish in Spain
Throughout your time at PolyU you will have lots of opportunities to practise you Spanish skills. We have exchange agreements with two Spanish universities and every year we organise a trip to Study Trip to Spain. Of course you can also just go there on holiday!
We also have contacts with Latin American countries.
