There are three places for students to go to Jaen University (in the South of Spain) in the second semester of every year.
Tiffany was one of our first exchange students to Jaen, she went to in semester 2 2013, she said:
“¡Vive como una española!” (Live like a Spanish girl!) I say it to myself every day. I love the time I spent in Spain, although even Spanish people themselves will claim that the lifestyle sometimes is over-relaxing in here: a noon break from 2pm to 5pm for a family big lunch, a nap or a café with friends, and even more relaxing time during the night. I was a little astonished when I jump into this totally different lifestyle, but now I have to admit: jamon, cheese, olive oil, tinto (a kind of drink mixed with wine and lemon soda), really are treasures.
The academic life is also abundant with fun. I felt an everlasting passion from poetry and drama class. Besides, the Spanish course already developed me into a person who can chat with local people in Spanish (although the vocabulary still quite poor at this level). Only when it comes to your tip of tongue, can you feel how beautiful Spanish is. And as a linguistic major student, I have to say, it really helps to connect with other languages. This is just amazing.
The southern part of Spain, Andalucia, is famous for its friendly, passionate and generous local people. It is also a unique area of Europe which mixes cultures from Africa and Arable. It is a land full of wonders. There are exotic and charming places like Granada, Sevilla, Cordoba, Malaga, Cadiz… You will see that Spain is so much more than just Madrid and Barcelona. I want to thank my department for giving me this chance to study here.

And from January 2014, there will be another three places to go to Seville University (also in the South of Spain).
Study trip to Spain
Nothing will improve your Spanish skills like a couple of weeks in Spain!
Over the year we have established relationships with various language schools in Spain. After your first year we strongly recommend that you think about going to Spain (or another Spanish speaking country). In the past The English Department has funded part of the cost of the trip.
Your holiday
There is nothing stopping you from picking up your rucksack and going on holiday to a Spanish speaking country. Many of our students have visited Spain - and they all loved it. Have a look at this video on Madrid, done by one of our students while on holiday there.
